Meeting of Mao Zedong and Chiang Kai-shek

In an effort to defeat the Japanese, Communist revolutionary Mao (left) agreed to collaborate with Chiang (right) of the Kuomintang (KMT). The CCP-KMT alliance proved to be a massive success, as it was able to stand in the way of Imperial Japan’s aggression against China in the mid-1940s.
