Arsaces I is traditionally considered the founder of the Parthian Empire, one of the major political powers in ancient Persia.
Originating from the Parni tribe, Arsaces led a rebellion against the Seleucid Empire around 247 BC and established Parthia as an independent kingdom.
Under his rule, the foundations of the Parthian state were laid, and the Arsacid dynasty, which he founded, would continue to rule the Parthian Empire until its downfall in 224 AD.
